Ordering From Restaurants On Line

Many restaurants have not yet embraced the internet so I would like to talk to restaurant owners about why I like web based ordering.

When I order over the phone, I feel slightly rushed. This is not because the person taking my order is rushing me along but I just know that they are busy and the sooner I get off the phone, the sooner they can take another order. That's just the way I think. I feel like I am being courtious by preparing my order in advance and making sure that I don't take up too much of their time. But no matter how carefully I craft my order there  is still no guarantee that I'll get everything I ordered, there's no guarantee that the person heard me correctly either. For a number of reasons, we don't always get the greatest service over the phone.

When I order on line, I can relax and take as much time as I want. I tend to get way down into the menu and experiment with menu items that I never tried before. And a magical thing happens.... I order more food. And guess what, I'm not alone. Fact is, most people order more food when they order over the internet.

According to Pizza Marketplace, "...customers placing orders online tend to spend anywhere from five to 20 percent more than if they had called the order into the store."

What would a 5% boost in sales do for your restaurant? How about 20%?

What about you other shoppers out there? Do your buying habits change when you order food on line?
